Earlier this year, BOSS made
representations to the Department for
Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy
highlighting the impact of the changes
to product labelling requirements post
the EU-Exit. The main issue is the
requirement that all goods imported
from the EU will need to include the UK
importer’s name and address from 1
January 2023. BOSS gathered evidence
from members, and the results of our
survey concluded that this requirement
will lead to significant above average
price inflation on many products provided
by the OP industry to consumers.
As a result, we proposed that the
regulation should be amended to allow
web addresses on product/packaging
as an adequate means for consumers,
retailers and enforcement bodies to
trace the source and importer details for
