The World Cup and how it affects your workplace

and with matches occuring
during working hours, it’s wise
to consider how major sporting
events have the potential to
impact the workplace.
As a guide, here are a few statistics
from 2016, just before the European
football championship took place:
n 40% of UK employees admitted that
they would miss work for a big game.
n It was thought that Euro 2016 ‘sickies’
could cost the economy £269m in lost
productivity.
n 73% of UK HR directors believed that
some staff would call in sick during
the 2016 Euros.
